Leeds set up a dramatic second-half however, by scoring early on after the break. But Everton produced a stunning defensive display, particularly in the latter stages.
And Godfrey was at the heart of everything the Toffees did well at the back. The youngster has made an outstanding start to life at Goodison Park. And that continued on Wednesday.

He seemed to clear everything along with Yerry Mina. And he read the game so superbly as Leeds came forward time and time again.
And his display prompted plenty of Everton fans to take to social media to suggest that he was the standout performer on a superb night for the Toffees.
Plenty named the youngster – who earns £77,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – as their man of the match. And there is optimism that Godfrey could be a crucial part of Everton’s backline for years to come based on the start he has made to life in the Premier League.
