A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Ben Godfrey’s display as the Toffees suffered a defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men were unable to halt the Premier League leaders’ momentum at Goodison Park. Everton were beaten 3-1, with the visitors scoring twice after the break.

It was a difficult night for the Toffees. But there still seemed to be a few shining lights. Tom Davies continues to impress. Abdoulaye Doucoure seemed to have endless amounts of energy.

But many seemed to think that Godfrey was the best performer for the home side.

And that prompted a number of fans to laud the youngster. Some labelled the former Norwich City starlet as Everton’s man of the match.

Meanwhile, others have insisted that he is a future captain of the club. They have been so impressed by his ability, and versatility – he played at both left-back and centre-back on Wednesday.

And while it was a tough evening, several supporters have insisted that Godfrey can reflect positively on his performance in the loss.

With that in mind, here is how some of the fans reacted to his display…
