Everton fans react on Twitter to Ben Godfrey bid reports

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Telegraph this week suggesting that the Toffees have made a bid worth up to £26 million for Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey.

It appears that signing a new centre-back is a priority for Carlo Ancelotti heading into the final days of the window.

The Telegraph notes that Fikayo Tomori is Ancelotti’s first-choice target. However, they have made a bid for Godfrey as they await Chelsea’s decision on whether Tomori will be allowed to leave on loan.

According to The Telegraph, Everton have offered £20 million up front for Godfrey. Meanwhile, the Canaries could net a further £6 million in add-ons.

It remains to be seen how Norwich respond to the offer. Godfrey has started all three of Daniel Farke’s side’s Championship games this term. So it is unlikely to be an easy decision for those at Carrow Road.

But plenty of Everton fans are clearly hoping that they can get a move across the line. Many have taken to social media to suggest that he would be a brilliant signing.

Of course, several are aware that he is likely to be one who needs to develop further before he is holding down a regular spot in Ancelotti’s side. However, they are convinced that he has serious potential.

‘Really hope this is true’

And with Ancelotti’s men starting the season in style, they are optimistic that Merseyside could be the perfect place for Godfrey to realise that full potential.

Here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the bid reports…
