Everton fans react on Twitter to Abdoulaye Doucoure’s display

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Abdoulaye Doucoure’s display in their Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday.

It was a frustrating 90 minutes for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The Toffees seemed to struggle to create too many opportunities. And Robin Olsen was certainly the busier of the two goalkeepers.

Unfortunately for Everton, the opening goal came for the visitors just as penalties loomed. Edinson Cavani found the bottom corner from outside the box. Anthony Martial confirmed the win with the final kick of the game.

In truth, a number of Everton players struggled to impress. Ancelotti’s men have been outstanding in recent weeks. But they were unable to keep their winning run going.

Despite the disappointment, several Toffees fans had plenty of positive things to say about Doucoure’s display against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The midfielder has really stepped up recently in the absence of fellow summer signing Allan. And he produced another impressive performance in the loss.

Some fans insisted that Doucoure was Everton’s best player. Many were raving about the energy that the midfielder brought to the side. It was even suggested that he put some of his teammates to shame.

It was ultimately a hugely frustrating night for Everton. But Doucoure’s display provided a reason for optimism.
