A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Sunday Mirror (9/8; page 65) over the weekend claiming that the Toffees want Tosin Adarabioyo this summer.
Everton supporters will surely be very keen to see Carlo Ancelotti strengthen his options at the back during this window. The club conceded 56 goals in the Premier League this past season.
The Sunday Mirror (9/8; page 65) suggested that Tyrone Mings and Kurt Zouma are on the club’s radar. However, they are also interested in Adarabioyo.
The Mirror noted that the 22-year-old was likely to be a cheaper option for the Toffees. And that may prove to be a factor depending on the budget Marcel Brands and Ancelotti are working with.
Adarabioyo has made a handful of appearances for City’s first-team. And the Mirror suggests that he is in the final year of his contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.
The youngster has impressed on loan in the Championship. Along with Mason Holgate, he was part of the West Brom side that reached the play-offs in 2019. And he made 34 appearances for Blackburn Rovers this past season.
It has to be noted that there do not appear to be many Everton fans who believe that Adarabioyo would be a bad signing.
At the very worst, some have questioned whether he would be needed. It would perhaps be a gamble to view him as a regular starter next term given his lack of top flight experience.
And Ancelotti already has a couple of younger players waiting in the wings in the likes of Lewis Gibson and Jarrad Branthwaite.
While that may put some off a move, others like the idea of signing Adarabioyo. They think that he has a very bright future ahead of him and are in favour of adding another talented youngster to their ranks.
Here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the reports…
Very good prospect. Obviously want us to sign Gabriel but if we don’t get him I’d much rather get this lad for cheap than pay 25+for Tyrone Mings. Isn’t Mings basically the same player as Michael Keane 🤷♂️

This one doesn’t make sense. @Everton have 3 experienced CBs and 1 young CB. Do we really need another young CB? The whole point in getting another CB this window was doe him to be PL ready to supplant Mina/Keane next to Holgate. Unless this is “for the future” I don’t buy it.

Hopefully we will be looking at someone better who is able to go straight into the first team

Yeah don’t mind signing youth but need to strengthen the first 11 first and foremost

I do like the general idea of signing players with potential
