Everton are reportedly planning to hand Lucas Digne a new contract, in a bid to fend of potential suitors like Manchester City.
The Daily Mail claimed over the weekend that the Frenchman is liked by Pep Guardiola, and that City could make a move.
Supposedly there are reservations about Benjamin Mendy, and a new left-back is something of a priority.

Digne is said to be on the Etihad club’s radar, but the Times have since reported that Toffees officials are ready to move to protect their asset.
They want to offer a new contract to Digne, who currently earns £90,000-a-week at Goodison Park (Spotrac), even though his present deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2023.
Digne has been a superb signing for Everton since arriving at the club in the summer of 2018 from Barcelona.
The French international is a very popular figure at the club having been brilliantly consistent since his £18 million move (BBC Sport).

He is no doubt one of the best in his position in the Premier League, and it seems Everton recognise that he’ll need fresh terms to reflect that.
On social media, Everton fans were delighted to learn that Digne is in line for an improved deal, amid reported interest from Manchester City:
