Everton fans react as Niels Nkounkou leaves on loan
A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the Toffees confirmed on their official website regarding Niels Nkounkou.
The 20-year-old was one of the players on the move on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman has joined Standard Liege on loan for the season. It comes after he made just one appearance for Rafa Benitez’s side in the opening stages of this campaign.
Unfortunately for Everton, it does not appear that the news has gone down at all well amongst a lot of their supporters on social media.
Of course, the fans want to see Nkounkou playing more often. He looks to be an outstanding prospect with a very bright future ahead.
Unfortunately, he is situated behind Lucas Digne in the pecking order at Goodison Park. And Digne is, without question, one of the league’s best left-backs.
However, beyond the pair, there looks to be little depth. Ben Godfrey can be deployed there. Meanwhile, Fabian Delph is also an option. But Everton do lack natural options in that area of the field.
And with that, plenty of Toffees fans have been left scratching their heads wondering about the decision to loan Nkounkou out in the window.
‘Do not understand this’: Everton fans react as Nkounkou leaves on loan
They are extremely fearful that the decision is going to come back to haunt the club over the coming months as the squad gets stretched.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Everton fans have reacted to the news regarding Nkounkou…
Honestly do not understand this, sending our only LB cover out on loan. 😬 https://t.co/wN4BVjx6lk

So… uh… who’s going to be the back up for Digne…? 🤦🏻♂️ https://t.co/o3cacnnqU0

No cover at left back now… this makes no sense https://t.co/bw9ha5GKVT

Bad move, he’s rotation if Digne’s injured. Be in the first team if Digne wasn’t so good

Ridiculous he’s been allowed to go out.
