Everton fans react as Mike Dean appointed referee for Liverpool clash

Sky Sports have reported that Mike Dean will be the man in the middle when Everton take on Liverpool at Goodison Park this weekend – and Toffees fans are not impressed with the announcement.

Liverpool could win the Premier League title on Sunday if Manchester City suffer defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night. Three points against the Toffees and an Arsenal win in midweek would see the Reds crowned champions.

The Reds are currently 25 points clear of Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s men boasting a game in hand – which will be played against Arsenal. A loss will see City only have a possible 27 points up for grabs.

Now, Dean has been appointed as referee for the potential Premier League title-winning clash. The 52-year-old was in charge during Liverpool’s 5-2 win over Everton in December – which saw Divock Origi shine after netting a brace.

Everton, meanwhile, sit in a lowly 12th place but are in the mix to break into the top eight places in the Premier League table. They are four points behind Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham.

Everton supporters reacted to the news that Tranmere fan Dean had been appointed referee for the Merseyside clash ahead of Sunday’s encounter, and many think that it is advantage Liverpool because of the selection.
