Everton have completed the signing of James Rodriguez who joins the club on a permanent basis from Real Madrid.

The Toffees confirmed the deal on their official website and it’s fair to say their supporters are delighted with the news.

Rodriguez has signed a two-year deal at Goodison Park, with the club holding an option to extend that by an additional year.

The switch to the Premier League sees the Colombian international link up with boss Carlo Ancelotti.

During the 2014/15 campaign, Rodriguez fired 13 goals and 13 assists in 29 games under Ancelotti and was named La Liga’s best midfielder.

Everton have paid around £20 million, according to BBC Sport, and if Ancelotti gets the 29-year-old firing they could have themselves a real player.

Rodriguez has won the Champions League twice, La Liga twice and also the Bundesliga twice, during a loan spell with Bayern Munich.

Adding a born-winner in the playmaker can only bode well for Everton and he could prove to be a real coup.

Following the announcement, Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news.

Here is a selection of Tweets from the jubilant Toffees supporters after the Real Madrid man checks in on Merseyside.
