Everton fans react as Guillem Balague seeks to quash Diego Simeone links

Everton manager Marco Silva remains in a job for the time being ahead of tonight’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

But part of that is likely down to a lack of suitable successors and a tough run of fixtures which would make life difficult for a new manager.

There is perhaps a difference between the types of managers Everton fans feel the club could attract and the ones which are realistic.

Which is likely what journalist Guillem Balague was driving at when he took to Twitter to deny that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone would be coming to Goodison.

Some fans chose to take that in a tongue in cheek way, that he would be coming, perhaps hinting at how quickly things can change.

Others poked fun at their own club, stating that they would expect a manager to come from the Champions League to the lower reaches of the Premier League – where Everton currently are.

Everton need an up-and-coming manager in their current position. They won’t get someone established while they remain outside the top six by such a long way.
