Everton are among four clubs interest in the signature of Lille striker Rafael Leao this summer, according to a report by French outlet La Voix du Nord.
They report that another Premier League club, an Italian side and Valencia are also keen on the hitman, and the Toffees are apparently ready to pay 40 million euros (£36 million) to sign him.
Leao is just 20 years old but is incredibly talented, meaning that if he can become more clinical and mature, he could be a real asset for Marco Silva’s side if they can win the race.
The Toffees have needed an improved hitman since Cenk Tosun began misfiring and that could make all the difference between getting into the top six.

And while some Everton fans were excited about the prospect of the bid, others were worried that the price is a tough high for such a young player who hasn’t played in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether Everton will come out on top, but perhaps some supporters wouldn’t be too gutted if their side didn’t, judging by the reaction to the reported swoop on Twitter.
