Everton fans react as club reportedly interested in signing Lille star Zeki Celik

Everton are reportedly battling AS Roma for Lille right-back Zeki Celik this month and can nab Cenk Tosun’s Turkey teammate for a bargain £13.5million – and plenty of Toffees supporters want him on Merseyside.

Everton are said to be after a right-back this month, despite the presence of veteran Seamus Coleman, versatile Mason Holgate and Jonjoe Kenny – who has returned from a loan spell at Schalke but cannot seem to get a kick.

Coleman has picked up a number of injuries while Holgate is preferred in the middle of the defence. With Ancelotti seemingly not convinced by Kenny, 23-year-old Celik has been targeted according to a report from Le10sport.

They saw that Everton and Roma are playing tug of war for the Lille defender, who might only cost a bargain figure of £13.5million. An 18-time Turkey international, he has impressed for both club and country.

Indeed, Celik was an ever-present member of last season’s Champions League side – starring alongside the likes of Gabriel and Jose Fonte. This season, he has remained first choice in the French outfit’s Europa League campaign.

Everton supporters have reacted on Twitter to reports that their club are interested in signing Celik and many think such a deal would be huge business for Carlo Ancelotti’s men, if they can get him over the line.
