Everton fans react as club reportedly in talks to sign Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez

Everton are reportedly in talks to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez on loan before Monday’s 11pm deadline as Jordan Pickford continues to struggle between the sticks with Carlo Ancelotti’s side – and Everton fans have responded.

Lopez, 25, only joined Roma last summer and was immediately inserted as Roma’s first-choice goalkeeper. The two-time Spain international played 42 times, conceding 55 goals and keeping eight clean sheets – hardly the most impressive of stats.

This season, Lopez has watched Roma’s first three Serie A games from the bench – with Robin Olsen and Antonio Mirante considered options too. He could be allowed to leave the club, but reports claim there is somewhat of an impasse.

Corriere Dello Sport claim that Everton want a loan for Lopez – who spent a season on loan at Tottenham but failed to make a senior single appearance for the north London club during 2016-17. The Toffees are unwilling to meet his £20million price tag.

Pickford is under increasing pressure and made another mistake on Saturday during Everton’s 4-2 win over Brighton, fumbling a tame effort and allowing Neal Maupay to score from within his six-yard box.

Everton supporters reacted to the reported news that their side were in talks to sign Lopez – with many desperate to see Lopez in an Everton jersey. Many are just desperate for a replacement for Pickford.
