Everton are reportedly after RedBull Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin for a fee believed to be in the region of £17.5million – and Everton fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Telegraph claim Everton are desperate to bring in the 21-year-old striker, but face competition from Leicester City this summer. The Toffees are likely to be after a new centre-forward this summer.
Cenk Tosun has struggled since his £27million move from Besiktas, while Oumar Niasse has been on loan at Cardiff City. Dom Calvert-Lewin has been in decent form, but he is not the big-name striker Everton require.
France Under-21 international Augustin has scored eight goals in 29 league and cup appearances this season for Leipzig, but he has only started 14 of those matches. He has a contract until the summer of 2022.

TBR’s view
Considering his age, Augustin at just £17.5million is an excellent signing and has the potential to be a right bargain for Everton. But is he the striker they so desperately need?
Everton need a forward that is bang in his prime. They need a striker that is going to immediately hit the ground running, and it might be a couple of seasons before Augustin lives up to his enormous potential.
The Toffees already have an impressive young striker in Calvert-Lewin. So, Augustin would be a bargain, but Everton need someone with more experience that can guarantee goals. Everton fans reacted on Twitter.
