Everton fans react as Chelsea linked with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer as Frank Lampard looks to replace Spanish stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga – and Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the news.

Football website TMW claim that Chelsea have intensified their interest in pursuit of 26-year-old Pickford, who is rated at a fee of around £43.5million. Chelsea have been linked in the past and with Kepa struggling, it is clear Lampard wants Pickford.

Pickford has had his critics of late, with the former Sunderland man coming under the spotlight more than most given he is England’s number one goalkeeper. In his 120 Everton outings, Pickford has kept 34 clean sheets.

But to be fair to Pickford, a struggling Everton side has seen the goalkeeper struggle to keep clean sheets. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have endured difficult spells of form and Pickford cannot be to blame for the amount of goals he has conceded.

The England stopper is good with his feet and with a stronger defence in front of him in the form of Chelsea’s, he could thrive. Whether Chelsea can raid former manager Carlo Ancelotti’s side and lure Pickford to west London, remains to be seen.

Many Everton supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Chelsea want to land the shot-stopper, and many supporters are keen to wave goodbye to the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) ace.
