Everton fans react as Celtic reportedly close in on defender

Celtic are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny this month, with the player out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park – and Everton fans have responded on social media.

Kenny, 23, rejoined Everton in the summer after a season-long loan with German Bundesliga side Schalke last term – in which he impressed, playing 34 times and having a hand in five goals from the right side of the defence.

But he has only managed to play eight times this season, despite previously making 40 appearances for Everton. Seamus Coleman, Mason Holgate and even centre-back Ben Godfrey have played over Kenny this season.

Kenny is set to come in at Celtic with a deal agreed between Everton and the Hoops, as per The Sun. It is expected that Kenny will be a replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, who swapped Celtic for Leverkusen earlier this month.

The report claims Kenny could even make his debut for the Hoops on Tuesday night when Celtic take on Kilmarnock. A deal, then, is expected to be imminent and is somewhat of a coup for Celtic.

Everton fans reacted to the news that Celtic were set to sign Kenny – who has the same agent as Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton according to TransferMarkt. Many think a move north of the border is a good move for Kenny.
