Everton star Bernard could potentially leave Goodison Park in January after the player’s agent confirmed he will seek a mid-season sale for his client – and Toffees fans have responded on Twitter to Adrian Spadoto’s comments.
Bernard, 28, has struggled to have an impact at Everton since joining the club on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk. Clocking up 68 appearances in all competitions since his move, Bernard has only completed 90 minutes on 11 occasions.
With deadline day well under way, reports began to emerge that Italian side Roma were keen to take the 14-time Brazil international to Serie A. However, Spadoto has confirmed that Everton blocked the exit of Bernard – loan or permanent.

Spadoto told LaRoma24: “We tried to convince Everton to let him go, but they did not agree. Not even on loan. I think so [January], the player could be sold for around €7million [£6.5million].”
The likes of Alex Iwobi, Richarlison, James Rodriguez, Gylfi Sigurdsson and more are in front of the Brazilian playmaker in Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order. Given his £120k-a-week wages, it is clear that Bernard may be considered flexible.
Even this season, Bernard has remained an unused substitute for all four Premier League matches – while playing against Salford and Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup, but then reverting to the bench for the Cup win over Everton.
Everton supporters reacted on Twitter to Spadoto’s comments and while some are resigned to his exit, many believe the £6.5million figure is far too low for a player of his quality.
