Everton fans rave about opposition player Douglas Luiz in Aston Villa draw

Everton recorded a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Thursday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were majorly impressed with opposition player Douglas Luiz.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side went into the fixture at Goodison Park off the back of three games without a win and that record has now been extended further.

Ezri Konsa put the Midlands outfit in front in the 72nd minute, before Theo Walcott’s 87th minute header for the Toffees narrowly went over the goal-line to earn a point.

With Everton’s midfield a popular discussion in recent weeks, it was an opposition player in the centre of the park that caught the eye on Merseyside.

Luiz, 22, has been a standout performer since the restart for Villa and he impressed during his 90 minutes on the pitch against Everton.

The Brazilian is a midfield enforcer that is strong defensively, but also possesses flair on the ball and has a great engine that helps him cover so much ground.

Despite his eye-catching displays, Luiz is potentially facing relegation as his team are three points from safety with only two games left in their season.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media were quick to recognise the performance from the Villa central midfielder and were impressed with his contribution.

Meanwhile, there were some that feel he could be a great transfer target for them in the summer and one fan referenced the fact that Everton signed Idrissa Gueye from Villa the last time they were relegated from the top-flight in the 2015/16 season.

Here are some Everton fans discussing Luiz’s performance:
