Everton suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Sunday evening at the Emirates Stadium. A Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace and a goal from Eddie Nketiah saw the Gunners home.
It was a spirited performance from the Toffees but ultimately a goal 23 seconds into the second half left them to rue what could have been a vital point – or even more.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team had plenty of chances to get back into the game but found themselves up against an inspired Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison scored the Everton goals but it was another performer who grabbed the spotlight for the Toffees.

In November, Andre Gomes suffered a fracture-dislocation of his ankle and it was feared he’d be out for a prolonged period of time.
Yesterday, just over three months after picking up the horrific injury, the £112,000-a-week star played the last half-an-hour against Arsenal.
He replaced Gylfi Sigurdsson with 30 minutes to play, earning a rousing ovation from both sets of supporters.
Following the game, he tweeted a message of thanks to the Everton supporters and although disappointed to lose, he was happy to be back.
After his tweet, supporters responded and they too were delighted to see him back on the pitch. Here is a selection of tweets from Everton supporters in response to Gomes’ tweet.
