Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin got 71 minutes under his belt for England’s Under-21s side on Thursday night – and many of the Toffees fans on Twitter were delighted with his performance.
The striker started for the Young Lions and got on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw with Poland Under-21s.
Calvert-Lewin tapped in an easy finish from close range after a brilliant assist from Reiss Nelson, but the visitors did earn an equaliser through Sebastian Szymanski’s long-range free-kick.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd managed to field a star-studded line-up stacked with players that have Premier League experience and the England future certainly looks bright.
Jonjoe Kenny, Kieran Dowell, Ademola Lookman, Tom Davies and Calvert-Lewin were all Everton representatives that featured during the England draw at Ashton Gate.
Some Everton fans on social media singled out Calvert-Lewin for special praise after his display on the international stage for the Under-21s.
The 22-year-old attacker spearheaded the attack well and got himself a poacher’s goal, which was made easy by his smart movement in the box.
He did miss a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper after being played through by Manchester City’s Phil Foden, but his finishing should improve as he matures.
Calvert-Lewin is clearly a big part of the international team and has eight Everton goals this season in all competitions, with club manager Marco Silva starting him in the last four league games.
Here are some of the Everton fans that were impressed by the striker’s latest outing:

With Rashford dropping out Calvert-Lewin deserves a call up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs more credit than he gets now! Good attitude and effort! Lookman doesn’t have the attitude of him and you can have all the skill and potential but the attitude is what makes a good player! When he is on the pitch he gives 100% if it is 5 or 90 minutes!

That’ll do for me, he’s been superb recently. Long may that continue
