Everton fans praise attacker Alex Iwobi for his cameo against Manchester United

Everton were beaten 3-1 at home to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter did at least praise substitute Alex Iwobi for his impact off the bench.

The Toffees enter the international break on the back of three consecutive defeats and they’ve hit a brick wall after a flying start to the new season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side went ahead early through Bernard’s goal, but a Bruno Fernandes double before half-time saw the visitors turn the game on its head and take the lead.

Man United added a third in the 95th minute to wrap up three points with Edinson Cavani’s strike and it was another example of how crucial Richarlison is for Everton, as he was absent with the last of his three-game suspension.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media believe that Iwobi was one bright spark, as he entered the action midway through the second-half and was tasked with trying to get his side level.

The 24-year-old winger offered some bright moments in the final third and tried to be positive in possession, but in truth it didn’t quite come off for anyone in a Toffees shirt.

He nearly assisted an equaliser in the closing stages with his excellent first-time cross into the box, but midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was unable to finish and United extended the lead on the counter attack.
