Everton Fans on Twitter: 1-1 draw against Manchester City, Wayne Rooney's 200th goal, rival interest in Barkley
Fans of Everton had a lot to digest after their enthralling encounter against Manchester City ended 1-1. Ronald Koeman’s side were leading the tie until the closing stages when Raheem Sterling levelled the scores.
The Englishman found the back of the net for the first time this season, and his equaliser was perhaps merited, as Pep Guardiola’s team were the dominant side throughout.
Yet, to come away with a point from the Etihad Stadium is a positive thing, and what’s even better is that Wayne Rooney continued his goalscoring form.
It was the second consecutive game the former Manchester United striker scored in and his form is something that will please the Everton faithful.
Rooney’s return to his boyhood club may have seemed like a fairytale story, yet he has hit the ground running and has so far earned his team all four of their points this season.
Aside from Wayne Rooney’s performances, fans have been discussing another Englishman. Ross Barkley, who is currently injured, has been freshly linked to Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Telegraph have reported that Spurs are readying a £20 million bid for the Englishman, while Antonio Conte’s side are expected to rival them for Barkley’s signature.
Everton fans have been vocal about all three of the hot topics, here’s what they had to say on Twitter:
The result against Manchester City went down well, despite some feeling unlucky to only take a point…

There was a real divide among fans on Rooney's return but his start has dispelled all doubts. To me, it was always a no-brainer #EFC

Everton fans also had a lot to say about Ross Barkley…
rather see us lose Ross Barkley on a free next year than lose him before window closes for 20mil. Pointless if we do. Dont let others win.

How quickly has Ross Barkley been forgotten in the great scheme of things sad really
