Everton are reportedly interested in manager Vitor Pereira of Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are negative about the speculation.
According to the Sky Sports, the Toffees are keen on appointing the 51-year-old for their vacant managerial position and that he’s on a four-man shortlist that also includes David Moyes.
It is understood that discussions between Everton and Shanghai SIPG are likely to take place in the next 24 hours, with the manager willing to consider contact from the Premier League team.
Pereira led Shanghai SIPG to third in their league last season, while he’s previously worked at the likes of Fenerbahce, Olympiakos and Porto in the past.
Everton need to find a new manager following the dismissal of Marco Silva on Thursday, who ultimately ran out of time at Goodison Park.
The Merseyside club have slipped into the relegation zone of the Premier League and have some difficult fixtures in the coming weeks to contend with.
Caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson will take Everton to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday, while Manchester United and Arsenal are their two follow up league games.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media aren’t convinced by Pereira as a potential target and feel that he would be a gamble.
Here are some Everton fans on Pereira:
No thank you. This would be very underwhelming in my opinion. Not saying he’s horrendous but not for me

I give up
Ffs. Another ‘manager’ I have to google to see what he’s done?
Can’t we just get someone who’s win something and has that mentality of winning?
