Everton fans not happy as they are linked with Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier
Everton are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier as a possible transfer target – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded extremely negatively to the links.
According to the Athletic, Trippier is minded to return to England in the summer window.
With his Atletico contract due to enter its final year, it is understood that Everton and Manchester United both have him on their radar.
The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain are also admirers of the 30-year-old defender, who is one game away from helping Atletico to win the Spanish La Liga title.
Trippier, who earns £82,000-a-week (Salary Sport), would prefer a return to the UK if he is to be on the move this summer.
The right-back was a huge favourite with England fans after his role in the 2018 World Cup for the Three Lions, and he’s had big success in Spain since his move to Atletico two years ago.
However, a selection of Everton supporters on social media have made it clear they don’t want him at Goodison Park.
There is no denying that ex-Tottenham full-back Trippier has proven himself a quality performer on a top level.
Unfortunately, his age goes against him in the eyes of Everton fans. The Merseyside supporters are desperate to see a younger right-back come to challenge with their 32-year-old club captain next season.
Here are some Toffees fans discussing Trippier:
Too old we need young hungry players like Godfrey, we’ve been buying players past their best for far too long https://t.co/ZDzWD8KKbQ

Hmm not for me. Good player but isn’t he close to 30 these days? We need someone younger

I think he’s a good player but I don’t want him. 31 next season. However, I can see this apparently from what I’m reading he’s played RM in a a similar system we’ve been playing recently… https://t.co/uocjrwjN1a
