Tom Davies played 90 minutes for England’s Under-21s side on Monday – and some Everton fans on Twitter hailed their player for his performance.
The midfielder has struggled for minutes at Goodison Park so far this season, with a late cameo off the bench on the opening day against Crystal Palace his only appearance so far.
He’s found himself slip down the pecking order under Toffees manager Marco Silva and has a lot of competition ahead of him.
But the 21-year-old has now played two games for the Young Lions during the international break and enjoyed two victories.
Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21s side beat Turkey last week and managed a 2-0 win against Kosovo on Monday.
Manchester City wonderkid Phil Foden was the match-winner against Kosovo, as he netted a goal in each half earn three points in a qualifying match.
A selection of Everton supporters on social media were impressed by Davies following his display on the international stage.
The youngster excelled in a deeper central midfielder role, where he showed his composure and quality in taking care of possession.
His performances during the international break should remind Silva of his qualities and perhaps convince him to bring him back into the fold.
Davies has played 90 first-team games for the Merseyside club and shown real flashes of brilliance, but doesn’t want to spend a campaign on the fringes.
