Everton completed a 2-0 home victory over Burnley on Friday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin for special praise.

The Toffees moved up to eighth in the Premier League table, as they earned three points in their penultimate game of the season.

Marco Silva’s side were in front after just 17 minutes when Richarlison’s shot was deflected, as defender Ben Mee netted an own goal.

The Merseyside club doubled their advantage just three minutes later through Seamus Coleman’s header from close-range.

Everton have now won five of their last seven league games to pick up some strong momentum towards the end of the campaign and are in with an outside shot of snatching seventh still.

A selection of Everton fans on social media felt that Schneiderlin deserved praise for his efforts, as he made a third consecutive start in the centre of the park.

The 29-year-old has only played 15 first-team games all season and been on the fringes at Goodison Park.

But he has started to recapture some of his best form and broke up play well in the defensive midfield role against Burnley in front of the back four.

The Frenchman reads the game well and impressed alongside Idrissa Gueye in midfield.

Here are some Everton fans commenting on Schneiderlin, with one asking where this kind of form has been hiding:
