Gylfi Sigurdsson starred for national side Iceland on Thursday night in a European Championship qualifier – and some Everton fans were left praising him for his display.
The creative playmaker scored twice in a 2-1 victory over Romania, meaning they will face Hungary next month in a play-off final to qualifier for Euro 2021.
Sigurdsson, 31, showed his class with two first-half goals for his country and they were both low finishes that he struck with his weaker left foot.
He is a talisman for Iceland and pushes into more forward positions, but is mainly used as a midfielder for club side Everton and plays a box-to-box role at Goodison Park.
Despite the arrival of some impressive new faces, Sigurdsson has been involved in all seven games so far this season across all competition and remarkably Carlo Ancelotti’s side have won all seven.
He’s chipped in with three assists and one goal so far this season, as he reminds everyone of his qualities after a difficult season last year where he couldn’t reach his best.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media gave Sigurdsson huge credit for his latest display and feel he’s in a great vein of form.
