Everton fans gutted as Toffees-linked manager joins foreign club
Everton links to Christophe Galtier are now dead in the water after he was appointed manager at foreign club Nice on Monday.
French side Nice confirmed yesterday that the 54-year-old has become their new boss.
As a result, that’s a name that Everton can cross off their managerial target list.
The Merseyside club are still yet to appoint a successor to Carlo Ancelotti, so news of Galtier joining Nice has frustrated them a little.
BeFoot claimed earlier in June that Everton were interested in trying to bring the French manager to Goodison Park, but his future is now elsewhere.
Galtier would’ve been superb for Everton
It’s disappointing that Everton have missed out on Galtier because he may have been a revolution.
He’s achieved great things as a manager in French football, including winning the Ligue 1 title with Lille last season.
However, he felt it was time to move on for a fresh challenge this summer.
His team’s easy on the eye playing style would’ve pleased Everton supporters, but they are still waiting for confirmation on who’s in their dugout as manager next season.
With pre-season close, the Toffees need to get a move on.
The Liverpool Echo reports they are working on a deal for Rafa Benitez to take, so it looks like they may end up with someone who’s got Premier League experience.
