Everton are being linked with Sheffield United star Sander Berge – and some Toffees fans on Twitter have responded extremely positively to the transfer speculation.
Berge, who moved to Bramall Lane for £22million (BBC) in 2020, is a highly-rated midfielder that is part of a side rock bottom of the Premier League table with their relegation already settled.
According to Sky Sports, Sheffield United know it’s going to be difficult to keep hold of him this summer, especially as a term in his contract means his release clause has been lowered from £45million to £35million.
The report states that Everton and Arsenal are among the clubs that are considering a transfer bid for the 23-year-old when the summer window opens.
Berge was excellent at the back end of last season for the Blades, but has missed a large chunk of this campaign through injury.
The defensive midfielder is a physical powerhouse in the centre of the park who suits English football. Unfortunately, it’s been a season overall where the Sheffield United players have just not been good enough.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media feel that picking up Berge from the relegated club could be great business for them.
The Norway international has just made his comeback from injury, so it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in the final few games of the season knowing that potential suitors are likely to be watching him.
