Everton fans divided over performance of Seamus Coleman against Liverpool

The Everton right-back has his fans and critics among the Goodison faithful.

Everton’s poor Merseyside derby record continued today with a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield. A woeful error from England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford allowed Divock Origi to score the winning goal in stoppage time.

Everton actually performed well and deserved to come away from the game with a point.

One player whose display did have fans debating on twitter was Seamus Coleman. The Irish defender put in one of his better displays this season.

Although he often found Sadio Mane getting in behind he was good enough to recover and constantly denied the Senegalese attacker.

However, despite that aspect of his game, some fans were less than impressed…

Coleman is Everton’s captain, however, some have felt he is on the way out. His displays have not been as good as previous years and many have wondered if his recent injury trouble has caught up with him.

Having seen Lucas Digne comfortably take Leighton Baines’ left-back spot, many have wondered if Everton should be considering a new right-back as well.

However, despite some fans still not being convinced, this display showed that there is still plenty in the tank for the Irishman.
