Everton had a chance to leapfrog Tottenham Hotspur into seventh place in the Premier League table on Monday night, as The Toffees drew 0-0 with Brighton at The Amex – and Everton fans want one of Brighton’s stars on Merseyside next term.
Carlo Ancelotti would have been hopeful that his side could put an end to a bad run of form and beat Brighton, in order to climb into seventh place and strengthen their chances for European qualification come the end of the season. But it was not to be.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw as Brighton further extended the gap between themselves and 18th-placed Fulham. It was certainly a better point for the Seagulls than Everton, who are now up against it just to get into the top six, let along the top four.
On the night, Yves Bissouma was the best player on the park. According to WhoScored, Bissouma produced two key passes – only behind Adam Lallana and Neal Maupay. Of his 53 passes throughout the match, Bissouma produced 47 successful ones.

Not only that, but the African produced more tackles than any of his teammates with five – proving his ability as a defensive screen in front of the back four and his ability to read the game. Only Ben White and Lewis Dunk made more clearances.
So, Bissouma is incredibly efficicent defensively and does the dirty work as a holding midfielder. He also creates attack and can thread a through ball to an attacker that creates chances. He is an incredible player, perhaps too good for a side like Brighton.
The Toffees, meanwhile, need a midfielder. Jean-Philippe Gbamin has only just returned from injury after joining the club in the summer of 2019. Fabian Delph, also signed in 2019, has also spent more time on the sidelines rather than in the team.
Tom Davies has done well of late, Andre Gomes is okay but not the long-term answer – and similarly, Allan has been excellent but the Brazilian is already 30 years of age. Everton played Mason Holgate in midfield on Monday and they need another body.

Football London state that Arsenal are interested in signing the Mali international in the coming months, while Liverpool and other Premier League clubs have been linked with the holding midfielder. ButFootballClub say Bissouma is worth £25million.
Certainly, Bissouma seems as though he will leave Brighton in the coming weeks – having starred in his 88 league and cup appearances for the club since moving to the south coast in the summer of 2018. He has also played 55 times for Lille.
If Everton are willing to spend £25million on Bissouma, then they really should. That is of the belief of Everton fans, who were very impressed with the midfielder – and have urged the likes of Marcel Brands to sign Bissouma this summer.
