Everton fans discuss performance of Andros Townsend during West Ham loss

Everton were disappointing as West Ham won 1-0 at Goodison Park this afternoon. A 74th-minute goal from Angelo Ogbonna proved decisive for the Hammers and left Rafa Benitez reeling.

One man who did come in for some praise was attacker Andros Townsend. He produced another decent display and caught the eye once more among the Toffees fan base.

The 30-year-old checked in during the summer from Crystal Palace. He made 185 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 16 times and claiming 28 assists.

He wasn’t handed a new deal at Selhurst Park though and joined Everton on a free, becoming one of Benitez’s first summer recruits.

ANTONIO CONTE WILL BE A SPURS DISASTER.

He has repaid that faith from his manager. During his first seven Premier League outings, he’s scored three goals and claimed two assists for the Toffees.

Townsend has also scored twice in the Carabao Cup, registering another assist and he’s proving fantastic business with each passing game.

The experienced former England international couldn’t help Everton this afternoon but that didn’t stop fans from raving about him.

What have Everton fans said about Townsend?

It’s fair to say that supporters are disgruntled with the defeat. However, the £58,000-a-week Townsend has at least provided a bright spark.

His crossing was largely decent and perhaps Everton missed having Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the attack.

Despite his Everton career being in the early stages, supporters have really taken to the winger and view him as a big player.

Here is what the Everton fan base had to say on Twitter as the Toffees slipped to a 1-0 defeat on home soil this afternoon.
