Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat to a much-weakened Manchester City side as Gabriel Jesus scored an excellent brace – and Toffees fans have reacted in frustration on Twitter, with many becoming fed up of midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side did have their chances throughout the match, with Claudio Bravo making a stunning save to deny Seamus Coleman with the score at 0-0. Phil Foden had a goal ruled out because of VAR, before Jesus opened the scoring.
His curling effort could not be stopped by Jordan Pickford, who did get a touch to Jesus’ first effort. He could do nothing about the Brazilian’s second, who slammed home a low effort after a lovely move from Manchester City.

A mistake from Bravo saw Richarlison score in the 77th minute but Pep Guardiola’s side held on to win all three points and stick with Leicester City, who had beaten Newcastle United 3-0 at St. James’ Park earlier in the day.
Everton signed Sigurdsson for £45million (BBC) in the summer of 2017 from Swansea, and he has since clocked up 96 appearances for the Merseyside club. But this season, he is not having the desired impact in the final third.
Previously, £100k-a-week (Spotrac) Sigurdsson has had a hand in 32 goals in 74 games before this season – almost one every two matches. But this time around, he has scored two and created one in 22 appearances. Everton fans are becoming fed up.
