Everton fans already love Andre Gomes after midfielder's long-awaited debut
It was an exciting summer of transfer activity – once it finally got going – for Everton.
But the delayed nature of some of their business means that one or two new arrivals needed that bit longer to get over injuries and get up to speed.
Barcelona duo Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina fall into that category; and the former finally made his Toffees debut in the 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
If he’s fully fit, there’s no doubt that Gomes is a coup for Everton. He is a supremely talented midfielder who would grace the Champions League; but his stock has fallen since his decision to leave Valencia and sit low down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.

It would appear that Everton fans have already recognised the talent their new number eight has. There is a danger that debuts can fall flat when they’re so hotly-anticipated, but Gomes delivered a glimpse of what he can do.
The Goodison Park faithful absolutely loved it and showed him the love on Twitter after Gomes posted out a tweet to commemorate his debut.
