Everton defender Yerry Mina has been involved in a rather bizarre altercation with fans of his national team Colombia.

The centre-back has joined up with his national side in Miami as they prepare for a doubleheader of friendly matches against Brazil and Venezuela in Florida.

The Everton star, as reported by Alerta Bogota, was busy signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans ahead of a training session with Los Cafeteros.

But it seems he must have missed one short-tempered fan out amid his crowd-pleasing. As detailed on Fox Sports, Mina was taken aback as one punter hurled a pen into his face.

The 24-year-old was clearly displeased and decided to walk away from the incident leaving several other fans disappointed that they could not get a chance to meet the powerhouse defender.

TBR’s View

First of all, it must have been a brave person to risk the wrath of the 6ft 5ins no-nonsense defender. Brave or, more likely, moronic.

Also, Everton fans will certainly be perplexed as to why anyone could have any animosity toward ‘King’ Yerry.

Mina has become a popular figure among the Everton fans because of his clear passion and his happy attitude off the pitch.

It is certainly puzzling to wonder who on earth would have the gall to throw a pen at Everton’s current centre-back hero.

Hopefully, he can help Colombia to a positive international break and put this ugly incident behind him.
