Everton are reportedly one of the teams interested in signing highly rated Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey this summer.
It was reported by Sport 1 last week that the Jamaica international is on Carlo Ancelotti’s radar, with Tottenham Hotspur also said to be monitoring the situation.
It’s claimed the Premier League clubs have both ‘wooed’ the trickster, who is valued at around £36 million by the Bundesliga outfit.
That asking price appears to have come down significantly – at one point, Bailey was being linked to the likes Chelsea for around double that figure.
Last term, injuries and suspensions limited him to just 22 appearances in the Bundesliga, and he could only manage five goals and three assists.
That said, Bailey still has a reputation as being an exciting young attacker – and he’s someone Everton should undoubtedly be trying to win the race for.
TBR’s View – Bailey would reinvigorate right-wing
Everton’s right side is in need of an upgrade and Bailey would be a very exciting capture by the club – perhaps one of the most exciting the club could ever make.
The man has previously been compared to Arjen Robben for the way he likes to cut in from the right on his strong left foot (bundesliga.com), although the 23-year-old arguably mixes it up more than the Dutchman used to.
He has devastating pace and the trickery to boot, which would make him a total nightmare for Premier League full-backs.
Everton have a highly experienced coach in Ancelotti, but at the moment they are lacking the players that could fire them back into Europe – signing Bailey would go some way to helping their cause.
