With Chelsea dipping into the transfer market this summer, Ross Barkley looks to be one player who could be on his way out, with Everton a potential destination.
According to reports from the Guardian and others, Barkley is one of a number of players Frank Lampard could be willing to let go.

The signing of Hakim Ziyech, plus the potential imminent arrivals of Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell, means Lampard may need to recoup some money somewhere.
Barkley, then, could be sold. At just 26, he still holds value for the Blues. Chelsea could even recoup their money on the England man and potentially more. Barkley signed for the Blues for around £15m in 2018. (BBC)
Everton, meanwhile, are looking to improve their squad themselves. A big chunk of spending in the last few windows has seen their squad improve. However, they’re still missing a few players in key areas.

So, could Ross Barkley make a return to Goodison Park and enjoy a second spell? It’s certainly open to debate.
A divided signing
There’s no point beating around the bush. There’ll be some Evertonians out there who simply don’t want to see Barkley back at the club again. Some of them feel betrayed and let down by their former prodigy.
On the other hand, some time has passed now and Barkley is, arguably, a better player than when he left.
Gone is the flash Paul Gascoigne-Esque player we saw when he broke through at Everton. Instead, Barkley is a more well-rounded and accomplished player. He’s matured under Frank Lampard and would no doubt improve the Everton squad.
If Chelsea are willing to sell, then the Toffees should be interested. Especially if the Blues only want a fee akin to that they paid in 2018.
