Everton may receive an unexpected sum of cash this summer, with Romelu Lukaku linked with a surprise exit from Manchester United.
The striker, sold for £75 million to the Red Devils in 2017, is apparently at risk of the chop as reported by The Daily Telegraph, who claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning a ruthless overhaul of his squad.
The Belgium international has struggled at times this season and is no longer the first-choice striker at Old Trafford having fallen behind Marcus Rashford.
Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all named as interested parties and if Lukaku does jump ship, then the Toffees will net £5 million as per the terms of the deal with United.
If the Red Devils really do want Lukaku gone, they might actually struggle to offload him due to his £255,000-a-week wages.
Lukaku has not pulled up too many trees since becoming a Manchester United player, and it would be understandable for other clubs to be unwilling to pay him such money.
Lukaku’s chances of moving are not totally out of the question though, with the player’s agent fuelling the fire earlier this month.
Federico Pastorello said, as quoted by Sky Sports: “Let’s see. He’s someone who loves to know a different culture, a different football.
“He sees a way to have a career playing in different countries because he would like to win some trophies and prove himself and say to his children: ‘I won there and I won there and I won there. I was a very good player in all the top championships’.”
