Everton under-23 manager David Unsworth singled out Josh Bowler for praise after his goal secured the Premier League 2 title, the club’s official website reports.
Unsworth’s youngsters edged Brighton out with a 1-0 win thanks to Bowler’s goal to confirm the title with a game to spare.
Bowler has played a major role for Everton’s under-23 team all season and proved to be the match-winner in Monday night’s game.
The former Queens Park Rangers winger, who joined Everton in summer 2017, has been tipped for a bright future by Unsworth after his impressive performance.
Unsworth told Everton’s official website: “When he performs like that, he fully justifies the reason why we brought him to the Football Club. It was probably his best ever performance for us. Hopefully that can catapult him to the next level.”
Bowler notched his third Premier League 2 goal of the season against Brighton and will now be hoping to kick on.
The 20-year-old winger penned a three-year deal in summer 2017, having already played one senior game for QPR, and breaking into the Everton side is his next target.
With one year left on his contract at the start of 2019/20, Bowler either needs to prove he can step up or head out and impress on loan.
Unsworth believes Bowler has all the credentials to make it at Everton but he now needs to make the jump to the next level.
