Italian outfit Lazio are considering a move for Everton outcast Cenk Tosun during the summer transfer window, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The Toffees boss Marco Silva will go about reshaping his squad this summer and that might not bode well for Tosun. The 27-year-old scored just four goals and registered three assists in all competitions last season, largely featuring from the bench.
Lazio have one game left of their 2018/19 campaign and can finish as high as seventh. They are clearly hoping to strengthen this summer and see Tosun as a man to make a difference.
It was reported last week via Turkish Football that the striker might be keen on staying at Goodison Park. That is likely to be dependant on regular opportunities to play though.
Tosun is under contract on Merseyside until 2022 and doesn’t seem in any real rush to depart. If Silva doesn’t see him as part of his plans for next season, however, some sort of move away from the club could come to fruition.
Tosun hasn’t really made the grade in the Premier League and a move looks best for all parties.
If Everton can recoup the £17.5 million they want for the striker (Calciomercato) it can towards a player who could really strengthen the squad.
Nine goals in 43 appearances don’t really warrant Everton handing him any more chances to shine. If the Toffees are to progress into the higher echelons of the division then they quite simply need better players.
If Lazio are waiting with the cash to splash on Tosun, Everton should take the money and run.
