Everton are reportedly still interested in signing Serbian international Andrija Zivkovic this summer. As reported A Bola in December, Everton have been following the player for some time and was keen on a move to Goodison Park.
Now, CM Jornal is suggesting that Benfica have informed Everton they can have the winger this summer.
However, the report also suggested the fee Everton would need to pay. Everton would be required to pay €35 million (£31 million) for the player.
At that price, Everton need to move on.
There is no doubt that the 22-year-old is extremely talented but Everton cannot justify spending such a fee on a player who could not get in the Benfica first-team last season.
Zivkovic played just 16 times for Benfica in the Portuguese top-flight last season, featuring for 90 minutes on just four occasions. In that time, he failed to score a single goal last season and did not play a league game after the 11th March.
Everton do need to bring in a new attacking option or two this summer but Zivkovic would be a massive gamble considering his lack of action last season.
If Everton could get him for a far reduced fee then this would be a brilliant addition for the Toffees and he could get his career back on track at Goodison Park. But for £31 million, they need to consider other options.
