Everton were recently linked with a move for Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga.
Arena Napoli claimed the Toffees and also West Ham United were keen on signing the star in January.
It’s been a very bright season for the French-born Ivory Coast international, who has scored seven goals and made four appearances in 23 appearances.
Perhaps most impressively though, is Boga’s dribbling statistic.
According to WhoScored, the lively 23-year-old has completed 32 more dribbles than anyone else in Serie A with 97.
That puts him fourth out of all the players in Europe’s top five leagues, just behind Lionel Messi.
Boga is clearly beginning to realise his potential, and a strong argument can be made that he would represent a decent upgrade on Theo Walcott for Everton.
TBR’s view – Boga in, Walcott out would be solid Everton business
Despite some good form recently, Walcott’s spell at Goodison Park has been largely unsuccessful.
The star, signed by Sam Allardyce in January 2018, will be turning 31 next month and his best days are far behind him.
Spotrac claim he is on wages of £100,000-a-week, which is lot to give someone who struggles to perform consistently.
It’s been reported that Chelsea want to re-sign Boga (Express), but Everton should make it their mission to challenge the Blues.
Boga is a player who has the potential to become a top player, and is already demonstrating he is someone that makes things happen in the final third.
With better players around him, he could genuinely become frightening.
