Everton face Manchester City this evening in the Premier League. The Toffees will be hoping to improve on their recent poor form against the champions, even though they are currently chasing down Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Undoubtedly, Everton fans will want to see some changes to the side that were comfortably beaten by Wolves last time out.

Theo Walcott’s inclusion in the starting XI might incite a riot whilst Everton fans will be hoping to see Lucas Digne back to his best after his comical recent form.

But one ever-present that Everton boss Marco Silva needs to consider replacing is attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic international, signed for a reported (BBC) £45 million in 2017, has been in poor form recently.

His lack of mobility also impacts Everton’s style of play. Against a team like City, it could see Everton fighting a losing battle.

The Toffees would be better off with a midfield trio of Idrissa Gana Gueye, Andre Gomes and Tom Davies in tonight’s fixture.

Everton fans are starting to learn quickly that Sigurdsson is something of a luxury player. In a game like this, luxuries cannot be afforded.
