Everton winger Henry Onyekuru netted his 12th goal of the season yesterday afternoon. His header gave Galatasaray the lead in their match with fierce rivals Fenerbahce.
According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Bayern Munich sent scouts to check on the 21-year-old during the contest.
The Nigerian timed one of his best displays of the season to perfection in front of the Bavarian representatives. The youngster has been a big hit in Turkey this season and his future beyond this season is unclear.
Marco Silva is set to be in the transfer market for new recruits and that could mean he is unwilling to hand Onyekuru a chance to impress.
He does have a contract at Goodison Park until 2022 worth £31k-a-week, according to Spotrac.
Everton will probably hope the player can obtain a visa in the summer, allowing Silva to make his own decision, rather than have one forced upon him.
Regardless of the relevant documents being obtained, Munich’s interest could well turn the player’s head anyway. The chance to join a club like Bayern doesn’t occur every day and Onyekuru might jump at the chance.
Based on yesterday’s showing the Toffees have a real fight on their hands to keep a hold on Onyekuru. Silva might well welcome the cash, but the player could prove to be one that got away if he does go to Bayern and impresses sufficiently.
