Everton manager Marco Silva has revealed that Bernard could start in the Premier League at the weekend against Leicester City.
The Toffees travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday and could do with a positive result going into the international break, as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Southampton in midweek.
Silva has explained ahead of the Leicester fixture that there is the possibility of Bernard making his first league start for the Merseyside club.
The 26-year-old left-winger has been restricted to cameo roles so far, but is a skilful ace that has a big reputation and caught the eye in the cup.
“The two wingers, Bernard and (Ademola) Lookman, were the best players on the pitch as well [against Southampton],” Silva said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“It is possible [Bernard starts against Leicester]. He is working really hard.”
Bernard’s potential inclusion in the XI should excite Everton fans, as he looks like he could become a huge player for them and showed at former club Shakhtar Donetsk his goalscoring threat.
The 5ft 5in trickster could definitely expose a weakness in Leicester defender Ricardo Pereira.
The Leicester right-back is a speed machine that is brilliant in attack, but is certainly vulnerable going the other way and will leave space in behind.
Bernard is a wide man that is capable of exposing full-backs with his directness and it could be smart unleashing him on Leicester, while Richarlison could be pushed into a more central role.
