'Everton are working': Romano suggests Toffees closing in on 'amazing' signing
Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter this afternoon with two Everton transfer updates.
So far, the Toffees have signed five players – three permanent deals and two on loan.
Everton have also sold Richarlison and loaned out two players, with a few more leaving on expired contracts.
Now, Romano has provided updates on Dele Alli as well as on Everton’s talks over Idrissa Gueye.
The transfer insider claims Turkish outfit Besiktas are “really pushing” to sign the Toffees midfielder.
Both a loan deal or a permanent transfer are under consideration, added Romano.
Everton are reportedly letting Alli decide what he wants to do, the player wanting game time as his priority.
And with regards to Gueye, the Toffees are “working to complete” the deal after “long negotiations” with Paris Saint-Germain.
On Tuesday, The Times also reported on Everton’s pursuit of Gueye.
According to Paul Joyce’s report, the Toffees are hoping to progress with a deal this week to bring back Gueye on a nominal fee.
Everton have already bolstered their midfield ranks this summer by signing Amadou Onana.
But with Abdoulaye Doucoure picking up an injury, it’s no surprise that the Toffees are pushing for Gueye.
It would be a big boost for Everton if they can still get a move for their former player across the line.
He showed during his previous spell on Merseyside that he could be one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.
That form prompted PSG to spend £30million to sign him.
And while Gueye’s spell at the Parc des Princes hasn’t quite worked out, he remains an “amazing” player who’d surely be great for Everton.
