Everton debutant Anthony Gordon shares heartfelt post about Leighton Baines
It was a night to remember for Everton starlet Anthony Gordon on Wednesday as he made his home debut.
The 18-year-old has been on the bench for the last three Premier League games, without getting on the pitch.
Interim boss Duncan Ferguson finally handed him the chance to shine against Leicester; introducing the striker for the last six minutes of the contest.
Gordon looks set for a bright future. He has netted seven goals for the under-23 ranks this season and knows where the back of the net is.
Prior to last night, the academy graduate had played for the first-team. In 2017 he came off the bench during a Europa League victory against Apollon Limassol as a 16-year-old.
Following his home debut, Gordon took to Twitter to share a photograph of himself with Leighton Baines.
His post showed two images of himself with the Toffees left-back. One was taken seven years ago with Gordon an opportunistic fan getting a photo with his idol; the other showed the pair during the Leicester game, in an embrace after Baines’ late equaliser.

It’s quite a remarkable story for Gordon getting the chance to play with his former idol for the club he supported as a boy.
The challenge for the striker is to stay grounded and take his chances when they come along.
He will hope to impress the new manager when one is appointed and will now have the bit between his teeth for more chances.
Players like the £65,000-a-week Baines can help Gordon fulfil his potential. Any advice from players like the ex-England man can only benefit the youngster moving forward.
