Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane had a superb game at the weekend, grabbing a goal and four assists as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs claimed a 5-2 away win in the Premier League.
Son Heung-min also impressed with his four-goal haul against Southampton, but Alan Shearer only had room for one of the two Tottenham forwards in his latest Team of the Week.
While Son made the cut, Kane did not, the TOTW front line consisting of Sadio Mane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Wilfried Zaha alongside Son.

Needless to say, some Spurs fans were not pleased:
Alan you’re a striker and you didn’t deem what Kane did to be worthy of best striker of the weekend?? Jesus wept

Kane 4 assists, 1 goal. Shearer 🗑

Kane just recorded a record of 4 assists in a single game (by an Englishman) and scored a 5th but doesn’t make team of the week 😂😂😂 care to explain that one @alanshearer ?

@alanshearer Kane got 1 goal and 4 assists but doesn’t make team of the week. What possible reason could you have for omitting him?

Even some neutral fans – including Arsenal fans – were baffled by the Kane omission:
A player assisted 4, and scored a goal and he’s not part of this team. Even as an arsenal fan it isn’t right.

Imagine not having Kane in there after 4 assists and a goal
— Matt (@MGH) September 22, 2020
Meh! Can’t stand Kane but when he has 4 assists and a goal, you reluctantly include him. And of course Fabinho was an absolute master class, crazy not to have him!

Kane got 5 goal contributions in 80 minutes btw
— Paddy (@Paddy_WBA) September 22, 2020
how can u not include kane and fabinho 😂
— Vik (@LFCVik2) September 22, 2020
Come on even the most loyal of @Arsenal fans would have Kane in the team.

Kane and Danny Ings both saw goals ruled out before the latter gave Saints the lead in the 32nd minute through an angled finish.
Son hit back just before the break and added three more between the 47th minute and the 73rd minute, all assisted by Kane.
The England captain then got himself on the scoresheet with a close-range finish before Ings pulled one back from the spot.
