Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers heaped praise on Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale after the goalkeeper’s spectacular performance at the King Power Stadium earlier today.

The Gunners started really well and went ahead after just five minutes through Gabriel Magalhaes. Emile Smith Rowe doubled their lead a few moments later, but it was Ramsdale who stole the show.

The Englishman pulled off an extraordinary save just before half-time. James Maddison’s free-kick looked destined to go in, but Ramsdale, at full stretch, denied him.

In the second half, Leicester looked really good. They put Arsenal under all sorts of pressure, but every time they asked a question, Ramsdale stepped up. The 24-year-old almost singlehandedly kept a clean sheet today and even Rodgers was blown away by how good he was.

Brendan Rodgers: Aaron Ramsdale made some outstanding saves

Speaking to LCFC TV after the game, he said: “He made some great saves. At the end of the first half, it’s a big save from the free-kick and then his second action to get up was very good. In the second half, he made some fantastic saves.

“If I’m stood here after drawing 2-2 in the game, I don’t think there could be any argument, but the goalkeeper kept them with a clean sheet and the start from us gave them the two goals, so it’s disappointing.”

In his post-match press conference, Rodgers added, as per Leicester Mercury: “You have to give him a big applause. He’s made some outstanding saves. Maddison’s free-kick looks in all the way and then his second action stops Jonny.”

If it wasn’t for Ramsdale, Leicester would’ve probably levelled the score in the second half. The Foxes dominated most parts of the game after the break, but the Englishman’s brilliance in goal kept them away.

In total, Ramsdale made eight saves against Leicester, at least four of which were absolutely brilliant ones. He secured an 8.9 out of 10 rating on SofaScore, more than any other player on the pitch.

A lot was said about Ramsdale when Arsenal forked out big money for him in the summer. It’s safe to say now, he has proved every single one of his doubters wrong and may just have ended Bernd Leno’s Gunners career.
