European giants could oust Newcastle once again and sign 'frightening' £40m talent

Ismaila Sarr’s representatives have held talks with AC Milan about a summer move, according to reports in Italy.

According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri are keen on signing the Watford attacker this summer, who was signed for a staggering £40m in 2019 as per Sky Sports News.

The agent of the Watford forward has said his client will be allowed to leave the Hornets, amid interest from Newcastle United.

The Senegal international is one of Watford’s best players and Roy Hodgson will be hoping that the 24-year-old can inspire the relegation-threatened side to safety.

The former Rennes man, who Ben Foster has labelled as a ‘frightening’ talent, has five goals and one assist from 17 Premier League games this season.

In the 13 Premier League games that Sarr hasn’t featured this season, the Vicarage Road side have picked up five points.

Whereas when the influential number 23 has featured, Watford are averaging one point per game with 17 points accrued.

If it wasn’t for Sarr’s injury struggles and his successful participation in the African Cup of Nations triumph, Watford may have been further up the table.

With eight top-flight games remaining, Watford are three points off safety and will be hoping that Sarr can conjure up some magic in the closing weeks of the season.

If Hodgson’s men do manage to retain their top-flight status then they will likely be able to command a heftier asking price for Sarr.

But Sarr’s agent has made it clear that a new chapter beckons for the Senegalese.

“We have the green light for Ismaila to leave Watford,” Thierno Seydi told Senegalese outlet APS (via The Sun).

“In their strategy, nothing will stop him from leaving if they receive an interesting offer for him.

“But only the future will tell where he will end up. At the moment there are rumours and interests in him, but nothing concrete.”

As Newcastle have already potentially seen with Sven Botman, it may prove difficult to convince Sarr that St James’ Park is the best move for him instead of Champions League football in Milan.
